Vietnam pledges closer project coordination with Laos
Transport, energy and digital transformation are among the priorities outlined during talks between Vietnamese and Lao leaders in Hanoi.

Vietnam will coordinate with Laos to turn commitments by their leaders into projects and programmes, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung told Lao National Assembly President Sonexay Siphandone in Hanoi on November 3. Hung urged stronger economic ties through trade, investment and infrastructure cooperation.
Hung said his government would prioritise connections involving transport, seaports, border gates and logistics to support trade and investment. Energy, digital transformation, education and workforce training were also areas for cooperation.
He called for broader market access, stronger business partnerships and cooperation across supply and value chains, alongside balanced and sustainable bilateral trade.
Vietnam regularly checks implementation and addresses obstacles affecting bilateral agreements, Hung said. He also highlighted the two legislatures’ joint oversight of commitments by national leaders and strategic projects, saying closer coordination between parliaments and governments would support legal improvements and project monitoring.
Sonexay said the Lao legislature would continue working with its Vietnamese counterpart and both governments to implement agreements and major economic projects. He also pledged continued coordination with Vietnam on regional and international matters, including information exchanges and alignment of positions within ASEAN.
Hung said the countries would expand exchanges between their people and coordinate activities for the Vietnam-Laos Year of Solidarity and Friendship 2027, particularly to help younger generations understand their shared ties.
