Indonesia records Rp30.56 trillion in September crypto transactions
The financial regulator approved licences for 34 crypto-sector entities by September 2026, including two exchanges and two clearing and settlement institutions.

Cryptocurrency transactions in Indonesia totalled Rp30.56 trillion during September 2026, Financial Services Authority (OJK) chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi said at a KSSK press conference in Jakarta on 3 November 2026.
OJK said it was stepping up oversight and regulation alongside the sector’s expansion. Its licensing approvals covered 34 entities by September, comprising two crypto exchanges, two clearing and settlement institutions and other businesses supporting cryptocurrency trading.
For August 2026, the regulator reported 23.21 million crypto customer accounts, an increase of 1.23 per cent. Trading that month reached Rp23.16 trillion, rising 12.87 per cent month on month. Transactions in digital financial asset derivatives amounted to Rp4.56 trillion, a monthly increase of 33.76 per cent.
At a virtual briefing on 5 October 2026, Adi Budiarso, OJK’s chief executive overseeing financial-sector technology innovation, digital financial assets and crypto assets, said the regulator judged consumer confidence in the ecosystem to be holding up despite fluctuations in transaction values.
A digital financial asset trading licence for PT Gudang Kripto Indonesia (GKI) took effect on 22 September 2026, taking OJK’s licensed trader count to 28. In its regulatory sandbox programme, OJK had received 372 consultation requests by 30 September 2026. Four participants were undergoing trials: one digital financial asset and crypto operator and three market-support providers.
