Three additive manufacturing partnerships have been formed in Singapore to support commercial applications of research, industry qualification, standards and skills development. The announcements accompanied the Global Additive Manufacturing Summit 2026, attended by over 400 delegates representing 15 countries.

A five-year arrangement brings A*STAR’s Additive Innovation Centre (AIC) together with ATC Globe Holdings, Forefront Additive Manufacturing and GD Precision. It aims to ease companies’ progression into industrial deployment by linking research with capabilities in additive production, precision finishing, treatment and testing.

Separately, a memorandum of understanding between the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC) and Bavaria Makes will run for four years. It provides connections to Bavaria’s industrial ecosystem for Singapore businesses, start-ups and researchers, covering joint research, industrialisation, technology validation, market access and exchanges of research talent.

NAMIC is also building on its work with ASTM International, which develops standards. Their cooperation since 2018 has yielded four international ASTM standards originating in Singapore. These address subjects including polymer 3D-printed component design and standardised monitoring data formats for powder bed fusion.

The two organisations have also established three professional training programmes accredited by ASTM, providing additive manufacturing skills to more than 120 individuals.

NAMIC CEO Ho Chaw Sing said artificial intelligence and additive manufacturing could accelerate material discovery and improve product design. He said taking innovations beyond pilots remained a challenge, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises.
