GIC invested over US$4.5 billion in Anthropic ahead of planned IPO
The Singapore sovereign wealth fund holds about 1 per cent of the Claude chatbot developer, whose latest private-market valuation was US$965 billion.

GIC has put more than US$4.5 billion into Anthropic since first backing it in 2025, giving the Singapore sovereign wealth fund an ownership interest of about 1 per cent, Bloomberg reported. The figures came from an unnamed person with knowledge of the investments.
The Claude chatbot developer is expected to make its IPO filing public ahead of a planned Wall Street listing. Its latest valuation in private markets was US$965 billion. Separately, an August agreement brought Anthropic together with GIC and Macquarie Asset Management in a strategic partnership to construct data centres.
Other investors also hold positions valued above their original outlays. Iconiq’s holding is worth approximately US$17 billion following investments exceeding US$6 billion, people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg. Iconiq began investing in 2025, when Anthropic carried a US$183 billion valuation.
Spark Capital initially committed US$75 million in 2023. Its holding is now valued at US$7 billion, an unnamed person told Bloomberg. GIC, Anthropic and Iconiq declined to comment; Spark did not answer a request for comment.
