Malaysia has earmarked RM1 billion for Urusharta Jamaah Sdn Bhd (UJSB) to redeem sukuk early in 2027, the Ministry of Finance said. The funding is intended to strengthen cash flow at Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), although its provision remains dependent on the government’s financial position.

In a written parliamentary response to Datuk Dr Ahmad Marzuk Shaary (PN-Pengkalan Chepa), the ministry said the commitment would help UJSB meet its obligations to TH while pursuing prudent asset recovery. Earlier funding plans had been disrupted because spending on the COVID-19 pandemic took priority.

The ministry said UJSB had posted operating profits every year since 2019, with RM297 million recorded for financial year 2025. Assets it managed reached RM11.61 billion at the end of 2025, compared with RM9.7 billion in 2018.

It said UJSB’s RM13.2 billion in accumulated losses at the end of 2025 should be viewed separately from its operating results. In 2018, UJSB paid RM19.9 billion for TH assets worth RM9.7 billion. The RM10.2 billion premium was intended to aid TH’s financial recovery but subsequently generated impairment losses for UJSB.

Sukuk profit costs accruing to TH also added to UJSB’s accumulated losses, the ministry said. Those costs represented accrued profit income for TH.
