SeABank announced a Sustainable Finance Framework on October 29 to guide funding for environmental and social projects in Vietnam. The bank said the framework received a Second-Party Opinion from S&P Global Ratings.

Under the framework, 40-45 per cent of funding will support 14 eligible green categories, while 10-15 per cent will go towards seven blue categories. A further 40-45 per cent will support five social objectives. The intended areas include emissions, water security, waste and pollution, alongside access to essential services, housing and finance for underserved communities.

SeABank said the framework follows six international principles and guidelines. It covers how funds are used, how projects are assessed and selected, how proceeds are managed and how results are reported. Quantitative criteria include a minimum 20 per cent improvement in energy savings, emissions reduction or water efficiency.

The new structure extends the bank’s 2025 Green and Blue Bond Framework to include lending and social objectives. SeABank said its Environmental and Social Management System screens and assesses all credit exposures.

The bank reported outstanding green credit of more than ₫4.1 trillion as of September 2026, an increase of over 150 per cent from end-2025. Its 2030 targets include making green credit 5 per cent of total outstanding loans and cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 10 per cent against its baseline year.
