The Indonesian currency lost 0.25% on 22 October, finishing near the weakest point of its trading range.

Indonesia’s rupiah ended trading on 22 October 2026 at Rp18,045 per US dollar, according to Refinitiv data. It fell 45 points, or 0.25%, from the previous session’s close of Rp18,000, even as the US dollar weakened against a basket of major currencies.
The rupiah traded between Rp18,010 and Rp18,050 per US dollar during the session, ending close to its weakest level. At 15:00 WIB, the dollar index, which tracks the currency against six major counterparts, stood at 101.575, down 0.20%.
Investor attention was turning to upcoming interest-rate decisions from the Federal Reserve, European Central Bank and Bank of Japan, CNBC Indonesia reported. All three were expected to leave rates unchanged, with investors looking to their statements for policy signals. The Fed was expected to keep its October rate range at 3.75–4.00%, while the possibility of a December increase remained in focus.
Brent crude also rose about 2.59% to US$111.64 a barrel amid heightened Middle East tensions and concerns over global energy supplies. CNBC Indonesia reported that higher oil prices could increase Indonesia’s dollar requirements for energy imports and add to domestic inflation risks.
