Vietnamese rice, farm produce and food could find more buyers in Australia as businesses diversify their supply chains, participants said at a bilateral business forum in Perth on November 6. Discussions also covered engineering, construction and education investment.

The Australia-Viet Nam Talent Network and the Western Australia-Viet Nam Business Council (WAVBC) jointly organised the event. It connected local firms and overseas Vietnamese businesses with companies from Vietnam participating through Global Trade Connection.

Vietnamese Consul General in Perth Pham Hai Anh urged companies to turn business contacts into trade and investment agreements. He said the consulate would help firms address difficulties and enter each other’s markets. Perth Mayor Bruce Reynolds emphasised trust, direct exchanges and lasting business relationships.

Dai Dung Corp, MCQ Supermarket and Galati Group, the operator of the Spudshed supermarket chain, discussed importing additional Vietnamese products and potential collaboration in mechanical engineering and construction. Other opportunities raised included Vietnamese electrical cables and building materials, alongside investment in international schools in Vietnam.

WAVBC Vice Chairman Le Minh Duc said the council would work with companies from both countries to pursue the opportunities identified. The forum also opened the Vietnamese Culture Day 2026 programme in Australia, whose theme is “Colours of the Homeland”.
