KWAP receives international investment award for RM6 billion Dana Pemacu
The initiative pairs global investment firms with Malaysian fund managers to invest in local businesses and priority sectors.

Malaysia’s Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) has received the Investment category honour at the Pensions and Investments (P&I) WorldPensionSummit Excellence & Innovation Awards. The recognition, for its RM6 billion Dana Pemacu initiative, was presented in The Hague, Netherlands, on 5 November.
Dana Pemacu began in May 2024 to direct long-term institutional investment towards high-growth Malaysian businesses and priority sectors. These include healthcare, the digital economy and the energy transition. Its co-general partner model brings together Malaysian fund managers and global investment firms.
In a statement, KWAP chief executive officer Datuk Jay Khairil said the initiative sought to combine international expertise with knowledge of Malaysia’s market while developing the fund’s own capabilities and maintaining prudent management.
Jay also acknowledged the Finance Ministry’s coordination of government-linked investment companies through GEAR-uP and its direction on domestic investment. He said KWAP would pursue sustainable, risk-adjusted returns through further partnership investments to support the government’s long-term pension obligations.
