Hacking attempts detected in Malaysia have not resulted in data theft or interrupted online banking operations, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said, according to Malay Mail.

Fahmi, who also serves as spokesman for the Madani government, said authorities had identified attempted cyberattacks by non-state actors. He said no data had been stolen and no disruption to the country's online banking systems had been detected so far.

Addressing the hacking of Bank Rakyat's website, Fahmi said the attack changed only the site's appearance. The affected website was managed by a third party, he said.

Bank Rakyat responded by blocking access to the affected server and directing users to i-Rakyat, a site wholly owned by the bank, Fahmi said. He distinguished the website incident from the online banking systems, which he said had not been disrupted.
