US Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Stephen Alexander Vaden will lead an agricultural trade delegation to Vietnam that Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Washington describe as the largest the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service has ever sent to the country.

Representatives from the agriculture departments of California, Kansas and Wisconsin will join the mission. The programme will bring US exporters together with buyers, importers and distributors in Vietnam through business meetings, market briefings, field visits and product promotions.

USDA figures put Vietnam seventh among markets for American agricultural and related exports in 2025, with purchases worth nearly US$5.6 billion. US agricultural exports to Vietnam rose 38 per cent that year compared with the previous year.

The USDA said demand for American cotton, soybeans and animal feed ingredients was supporting growth in Vietnamese manufacturing and livestock production. It also identified opportunities for fruit, dairy, meat and specialty foods as incomes rise and retail and food processing expand.

Vietnam’s growing biofuel market and ethanol blending requirements also offer opportunities for US corn growers and ethanol producers, according to the department. The visit follows a USDA mission to Vietnam in March under its Trade Reciprocity for U.S. Producers and Manufacturers initiative.
