Jati Tinggi secures RM2.9 million contract for community battery storage
The TNB project involves a 150kW/430kWh system intended to store surplus solar energy for use in its distribution network.

A RM2.9 million community energy storage contract awarded by Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) marks Jati Tinggi Group Bhd's move into battery energy storage systems (BESS). The project is expected to take no more than 18 months from commencement.
Jati Tinggi Holding Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary, will partner with Reactive Energy Sdn Bhd in an unincorporated joint venture. The subsidiary will own 55 per cent and Reactive Energy 45 per cent, with responsibility for delivery shared between them.
The partners will supply a 150kW/430kWh system and carry out installation, testing and commissioning. The work falls under Pulau Tenaga Hijau, TNB's initiative focused on its distribution network.
Alongside batteries, the equipment includes power conversion components and systems for energy management and control. It is intended to retain surplus solar energy for later distribution-network use, support renewable power integration and serve off-grid or microgrid applications.
Managing director Datuk Wira Lim Yeong Seong said the work would expand the group's capabilities into storage technology, develop technical expertise and build its BESS track record. He said increased renewable energy adoption was generating storage opportunities for power integration and grid reliability.
