Malaysia began distributing RM1.1 billion under the fourth phase of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) on November 4, with more than five million people nationwide due to receive the cash assistance by November 6, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.

Anwar announced the payment schedule during a visit to the Deepavali Mega Bazaar 2026 in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. He said the aid coincided with Deepavali and would reach recipients from different ethnic backgrounds.

The payments are intended to help people manage cost-of-living pressures. Anwar said the government continued to prioritise public welfare, particularly support for people on low incomes.

Those attending the visit included Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan and Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.
