Vietnam’s listed companies and banks that had reported third-quarter 2026 results recorded a combined 35.8 per cent year-on-year rise in after-tax profit, according to FiinGroup. Its October 30 update covered 797 of 1,518 companies and banks, accounting for 77 per cent of total market capitalisation.

Non-financial businesses led the increase, with earnings up 65.5 per cent, compared with 2.6 per cent for financial companies. The figures were drawn from financial statements and preliminary earnings estimates.

Property businesses recorded particularly strong gains: after-tax earnings at the 69 reporting companies, out of 127 in the sector, increased 237.3 per cent. Vinhomes reported growth of 419 per cent, supported by property handovers and revenue recognition from major projects.

In retail, 17 of 27 companies had disclosed results, covering 95.2 per cent of sector market capitalisation. Their combined after-tax earnings climbed 89.6 per cent. Mobile World Investment Corporation reported a 97.4 per cent increase, while FPT Retail’s growth exceeded 110 per cent.

Banking earnings growth slowed to 14.1 per cent among 20 reporting institutions out of 28. Vietcombank’s after-tax profit edged up 0.2 per cent, following growth of 64.7 per cent in the second quarter. FiinGroup’s update highlighted uneven performance as many banks continued to face credit-risk provisioning costs.

Basic resources companies posted a combined earnings increase of 157.4 per cent, with Hoa Phat Group’s profit rising 106 per cent. By contrast, reporting information technology companies registered a 6.9 per cent decline, including an approximately 5.9 per cent fall at FPT.
