Prabowo launches 11 industrial projects at Weda Bay

Investment Minister Rosan P Roeslani said total investment would reach US$10.2 billion, or about Rp180 trillion.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated four completed industrial projects and launched construction of seven others on 8 October 2026 at Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP). The ceremony in Central Halmahera, North Maluku, also marked the first export of electric vehicle batteries.

Investment Minister and BKPM head Rosan P Roeslani said investment in the projects would total US$10.2 billion, or approximately Rp180 trillion. The developments cover nickel-based battery materials, battery production, electrolytic aluminium and electric heavy equipment.

The completed projects include exports of mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP), a processed nickel product, by PT Blue Sparking Energy; nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) and lithium ferro phosphate (LFP) battery raw materials from PT REPT Batero Indonesia; electrolytic aluminium from PT Pioneer Aluminium Industries; and EV-based heavy equipment components from PT XCMG Indonesia Manufacturing.

The seven companies listed for the construction launches were:

  • PT Guang Ching Nickel Cobalt
  • PT Inno Prima Material
  • PT Tinci Materials Indonesia
  • PT Weda Bay Aluminium
  • PT Bintang Karya Aluminium
  • PT Flat Solar Energy Indonesia
  • PT Foton Guangqing Motor Indonesia

Rosan said the new developments would include nickel-based battery materials, EV battery separators, electrolytic aluminium, electric heavy equipment for trucks, mining and industry, and photovoltaic glass for solar energy. Prabowo reaffirmed the government's commitment to respecting and safeguarding investment in Indonesia, regardless of where it originated.
