Prabowo visits North Maluku for 11 downstreaming projects
Four projects are set for commercialisation and seven for groundbreaking at Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park, alongside an initial EV battery export shipment.

President Prabowo Subianto travelled from Jakarta to North Maluku’s Central Halmahera District for an agenda covering 11 industrial projects under Indonesia’s natural resource downstreaming drive. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya put the value of the programme at around Rp180 trillion.
Teddy said four projects at Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park would move into commercialisation, while construction would be launched for seven others. The presidential agenda also includes an initial export shipment of batteries for electric vehicles.
Before the visit, Prabowo named Bahlil Lahadalia to lead the newly established Coordinating Ministry for Downstreaming and Energy Transition. Bahlil retains his position as energy and mineral resources minister.
Bahlil said the ministry’s creation was intended to bring institutions into closer coordination and accelerate programmes in both areas. Downstreaming and energy transition are included in the president’s eight Asta Cita missions. The ministry will coordinate bodies including the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming in pursuing those targets, he said.
