OJK says Indonesian stock market recovery does not end all pressures
The regulator said the quality of market movements matters more than the size of index gains or losses, while recognising domestic investors and share buybacks.

Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) has cautioned that a recovery in the Jakarta Composite Index does not mean all market pressures have passed. Hasan Fawzi, its chief executive overseeing capital markets, financial derivatives and carbon exchanges, made the remarks at the Indonesia Stock Exchange in Jakarta on 26 October 2026.
Hasan said the improvement nevertheless suggested trading was becoming more rational and controlled as investors digested short-term sentiment. For the regulator, he said, the quality of market movements mattered more than how far the stock index rose or fell.
OJK credited listed companies carrying out share buybacks and investors maintaining confidence in Indonesia’s capital market with helping the index recover. Hasan recognised domestic investors who had stayed invested through selling pressure, particularly from foreign investors.
He also acknowledged domestic institutional investors and other investment managers for taking action amid market pressure, alongside companies that had repurchased shares in response to market conditions.
