Malaysia reports RM59.5 billion in potential investment from overseas missions
RM14.2 billion has been approved, while RM45.3 billion remains under negotiation, according to the investment ministry.

Malaysia’s overseas visits and investment promotion efforts generated RM59.5 billion in potential investment from 2025 to September 2026, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) said. Of that amount, RM14.2 billion has received approval, with RM45.3 billion still at different stages of negotiation.
In a written response to the House of Representatives on November 2, the ministry said projects generally require 18–24 months to materialise. The timing depends on project size, complexity and economic conditions.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Johari Abdul Ghani led 14 visits and promotion missions during the period. These were organised through the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE). MITI said MIDA would keep tracking opportunities and assisting their development into projects.
The ministry also credited high-level engagements during official overseas visits with facilitating RM6.77 billion in exports.
MATRADE has been broadening export promotion in Central Asia, Africa and Latin America. Malaysian exports to those regions reached RM69.84 billion in January–September 2026, an increase of 23.06% from a year earlier, MITI said. Export growth included 426.1% for Namibia, 55.6% for Angola and 41% for Brazil.
