Indonesia’s export earnings for September 2026 were 11.87 per cent above their September 2025 level, reaching US$27.59 billion, Trade Minister Budi Santoso said. The total also exceeded August 2026 by 3.68 per cent, with manufacturing providing the main support.

Santoso linked manufacturing’s performance to the country’s downstreaming programme, which seeks to expand exports of value-added products. Manufacturing shipments rose by 4.38 per cent on a monthly basis, against 2.37 per cent for mining and other sectors. Precious metals, jewellery and gems recorded an increase of 116.33 per cent; electrical machinery and equipment gained 19.91 per cent; and rubber and rubber goods rose by 14.87 per cent.

September’s non-oil and gas shipments increased by 3.98 per cent from the preceding month, while oil and gas exports dropped by 4.08 per cent. The largest non-oil and gas categories were fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin, at US$4.43 billion, followed by mineral fuels worth US$2.99 billion and iron and steel worth US$2.70 billion.

For January-September 2026, export earnings totalled US$221.23 billion, a rise of 5.58 per cent. Manufacturing accounted for 82.64 per cent of that amount, with shipments valued at US$182.83 billion, an increase of 8.93 per cent from the corresponding period a year earlier.

Non-oil and gas exports for January-September 2026 climbed by 6.30 per cent to US$212.27 billion. China was the largest destination, taking US$54.17 billion, while shipments to the United States totalled US$25.39 billion and those to India amounted to US$15 billion.
