Ho Chi Minh City announced 12 projects carrying about US$16.4 billion in registered capital at the 2026 Autumn Economic Forum on Oct. 28. The projects have obtained either investment policy approval or investment registration certificates, and span urban development, ports, logistics and high-tech manufacturing.

The International University Urban Area leads the group, with its investment revised to about US$6.61 billion. Next are Can Gio International Transshipment Port, at US$4.92 billion, and Lotte Eco Smart City Thu Thiem, at US$2.29 billion. Together, these represent nearly 84% of the announced investment.

About US$8.9 billion is allocated to urban development. Covering 880 hectares, the university urban project will bring together educational institutions, homes, shops, healthcare, sports facilities and parks. Lotte's development is located in Functional Area 2A of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area.

Port and logistics investments total about US$6.75 billion. The 571-hectare Can Gio project is designed for annual throughput of 4.8 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) by 2030 and 16.9 million TEUs by 2047. Other projects include Gemadept–Terminal Link Cai Mep Port, My Xuan 6 Port and Swift Logistics.

Groundbreaking or construction commencement ceremonies have already taken place for several developments, including the university urban area, Lotte's Thu Thiem complex and Gemadept–Terminal Link Cai Mep Port.

The remaining investments cover industrial park infrastructure and factories making products such as energy-efficient glass, high-tech electrical cables, thermoelectric semiconductor materials, automation equipment and cast or fabricated metal products.
