Danantara and BP BUMN are accelerating the restructuring of Indonesian state-owned plantation company PTPN I, with implementation targeted for 1 January 2027. The changes are intended to improve its finances, reorganise its business portfolio and support sustainable growth.

Dony Oskaria, who heads BP BUMN and serves as Danantara’s chief operating officer, discussed the work with PTPN Group directors in Jakarta on 21 October 2026. In an official statement dated 27 October, he said the aim was to ensure that PTPN I, PTPN IV and SugarCo were financially healthy and able to expand.

Dony cited PTPN I’s positive EBITDA of Rp1.9 trillion as evidence of improving performance. He also said cooperation with PalmCo was helping strengthen the group’s finances.

The restructuring covers assets, financing arrangements and closer cooperation among PTPN Group entities. Non-cash transactions, including set-off arrangements, are among the approaches being prepared to ease the company’s burden. Dony said stronger investment governance was also part of ensuring business decisions were measured and supported the company’s long-term viability.

PTPN I is preparing programmes to raise productivity in key commodities, particularly rubber, tea and coffee. Operational improvements are planned after the restructuring. Dony said the group’s reorganisation should produce financially sound companies, rather than merely alter ownership or organisational structures.
