Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi said on 2 November 2026 that the Indonesian province expects about Rp9.7 trillion in investment following talks in Vietnam. The prospective investors include Vietnamese businesses and companies from other countries operating there.

Urip Sihabudin, a provincial official responsible for economic affairs and development, said the commitments were at different stages: some companies had signed contracts, while others had submitted letters of intent. Meetings with prospective investors also produced memorandums of understanding.

The projects include a large garment company's planned investment of around Rp4.6 trillion, with groundbreaking scheduled for December. A Vietnamese manufacturer of shoes, leather bags and perfume, which already has operations in Jepara, plans to invest around Rp2.9 trillion to expand elsewhere in Central Java. A Chinese company also plans to relocate to the province with an investment of around Rp2.17 trillion.

Urip said the provincial government sent a delegation to an event organised by the Indonesian embassy in Vietnam to promote trade, tourism and investment. The visit also explored a sister-province partnership with Quang Ninh.

Luthfi attributed investor interest to regional stability, quick and straightforward licensing, infrastructure readiness and a competitive workforce. He called on stakeholders to support Central Java's development as an investment destination.

The province also intends to adapt Vietnam's approach to preparing industrial areas, including government support for land, infrastructure, permits, raw-material supply chains and workers. Urip said Central Java would try the approach at 3–4 sites, including Brebes, from among 12 areas that had proposed new industrial estates.
