Bursa Malaysia-listed SkyeChip Bhd will contribute engineering, design and custom intellectual property solutions to Saimemory Corp.’s Z-Angle Memory (ZAM) programme, the companies announced. The engagement supports the development of memory technology intended for large-scale AI workloads.

Saimemory, a Tokyo-based SoftBank Corp. subsidiary, is developing ZAM for data centres and other settings where large AI models are trained and run. The company says the technology is designed to increase memory capacity and bandwidth, improve processing performance and lower power use.

SkyeChip, which supplies silicon intellectual property and silicon products, will draw on its chip design and integration expertise for the work. The companies said they intend to develop a longer-term partnership as they work towards commercialising ZAM.

Saimemory president and CEO Hideya Yamaguchi said he expected SkyeChip’s experience to contribute to realising the technology. SkyeChip CEO Fong Swee Kiang said the engagement expanded his company’s involvement in advanced AI memory programmes.
