Singapore Exchange (SGX) is planning a leadership transition as group CEO Loh Boon Chye prepares to leave after more than a decade in charge. At the exchange’s 27th annual general meeting on Oct 23, the 62-year-old said he had recently raised succession planning with chairman Koh Boon Hwee.

Loh said his contract ends in mid-July 2027, allowing time to organise the transition. He will work with Koh and the board to decide when and how the handover should happen, with continuity in strategy, operations and stakeholder relationships among the priorities.

Appointed CEO in July 2015, Loh said SGX had become more diversified and was now in a stronger position. He added that his ambitions for the exchange had not changed: he intended to keep pursuing faster growth and a wider international reach while preparations for his eventual departure proceeded.

Following the announcement, SGX shares traded at S$20.73 at 12.40 pm, a decline of 0.5 per cent or S$0.11.
