At 15:00 Western Indonesia Time, the US dollar index stood at 102.122, up 0.16%. The index tracks the dollar against six major currencies. Investors were awaiting the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decision, with rates expected to remain unchanged.

CME FedWatch data on 26 October put the probability of at least one rate increase by December at about 73%. Investors were also awaiting US durable goods orders, consumer confidence, third-quarter economic growth and September personal consumption expenditures inflation data.

Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti said Indonesia’s current-account deficit left the rupiah more exposed to global market turbulence. The deficit reached US$12.49 billion, or 3.34% of GDP, compared with US$3.58 billion, or 0.97%, in the preceding quarter.
