NTT Data seeks land for more Indonesian data centres
The Japanese group is planning further expansion over two to three years but has not disclosed the value of its proposed new investment.

Japan’s NTT Data Group is looking for additional sites in Indonesia as it plans to expand its data centre operations over the next two to three years, responding to rising Southeast Asian demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
Yasuhiro Kajiki, managing director of NTT Data’s Japan & Asia Pacific Data Center Unit, told Reuters the company intended to invest aggressively in more Indonesian facilities. He did not specify the amount of new investment planned.
Management outlined the expansion plans at the inauguration of a 12-megawatt data centre annex in Jakarta. NTT Data has invested US$500 million in Indonesian data centre infrastructure since 2015.
Kajiki also stressed the importance of engaging with local communities, noting that some infrastructure projects face opposition from nearby residents. Data centre expansion in the region has encountered resistance over electricity demand, water use and competition for land.
Research and Markets valued Indonesia’s data centre market at US$2.81 billion in 2025 and projected it would reach US$6.08 billion in 2031. The research identified national digital transformation, corporate adoption of AI and data localisation policies as drivers of the expected growth.
