Malaysian firms secure RM453 million in semiconductor export deals
The total at Semicon West 2026 was the largest recorded through Matrade's coordinated participation in the exhibition since 2007.

Ten Malaysian companies secured export deals worth RM453 million at Semicon West 2026 in San Francisco, according to the Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade). The agency said the value surpassed all previous totals from its coordinated participation in the exhibition since 2007. The participating firms included small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Alongside the exhibition, Matrade met semiconductor industry organisation Semi, which represents 4,000 member companies, and the Phoenix Mayor's office. The discussions explored further cooperation and Malaysian involvement in the global semiconductor and microelectronics industry. Phoenix-based industry network Global Chamber also facilitated a networking session where Malaysian businesses presented their capabilities and met prospective clients.
Matrade chief executive officer Datuk Indera Abu Bakar Yusof said the participation formed part of efforts to increase Malaysia's semiconductor exports, especially those of homegrown SMEs. He said the agency also sought closer trade and industry connections with North America and expansion into Latin America, Central Asia and Africa.
Abu Bakar said those efforts supported the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and National Semiconductor Strategy, including their goals for higher-value activities and stronger domestic supply chains. Matrade said it would continue helping exporters prepare for international markets and develop strategic partnerships amid geopolitical uncertainty, stronger global competition and increasing environmental and sustainability requirements.
