Jakarta recorded year-on-year economic growth of 5.87 per cent for 2026’s third quarter, according to Statistics Indonesia’s Jakarta office (BPS Jakarta). Governor Pramono Anung said the pace exceeded Indonesia’s national growth rate of 5.47 per cent.

Anung linked the expansion to Jakarta’s role as a centre for events. He said growth had accelerated from 5.52 per cent in the preceding quarter.

BPS Jakarta head Kadarmanto said the capital remained Indonesia’s biggest provincial contributor to economic output. Its share, however, slipped to 16.09 per cent from 16.32 per cent in the second quarter of 2026.

The next-largest contributions came from East Java at 14.36 per cent, West Java at 12.71 per cent, Central Java at 8.17 per cent and North Sumatra at 5.30 per cent, Kadarmanto said.

Anung also put Jakarta’s inflation rate at 2.52 per cent, describing it as the lowest nationwide. He credited price monitoring by Jakarta’s Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) with helping contain inflation, citing meat, rice, sweet potatoes, chillies and jewellery among the items contributing to price pressures.
