Four Indonesian provinces have been selected for proposed developments aimed at meeting domestic food, water and energy needs, Deputy Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said. The government intends to pursue the initiative in South Papua, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan and South Sumatra.

Speaking at a meeting in Jakarta, Nurofiq said participants had committed to moving faster on the master plans needed for the proposed developments. He said he hoped those plans would be finalised in the near term.

Deputy ministers joined senior officials from relevant government institutions for the discussions. Nurofiq said the developments were intended to serve local communities' needs, and that officials had been assigned to coordinate efforts to accelerate priority programmes.

The initiative is part of President Prabowo Subianto's self-sufficiency drive. It falls under Asta Cita, an agenda comprising eight flagship missions introduced by Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who have repeatedly committed to strengthening Indonesia's capacity to meet domestic needs.
