Indonesia’s IHSG share index gained 78.57 points to open at 4,998.34 on November 5, 2026, a rise of 1.60 per cent. The LQ45, which tracks 45 leading stocks, increased by 9.16 points to 510.40, or 1.83 per cent.

Ratna Lim, head of research at Phintraco Sekuritas, linked the positive mood to the Democrats’ US midterm election victory and President Donald Trump’s acceptance of the outcome. She said the results had eased political uncertainty for Wall Street, while potentially constraining Trump’s economic agenda, including tariffs.

Indonesian growth figures were due on November 5. Third-quarter growth was forecast at 1.3 per cent quarter on quarter, against 3.73 per cent in the second quarter of 2026. The annual growth projection was 5.2 per cent, following 5.29 per cent in the preceding quarter.

Ratna said a weaker-than-expected result could undermine sentiment by heightening concerns about an economic slowdown and listed companies’ earnings. A stronger result could support investor confidence, she added.

US stocks had advanced on November 4: the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 3.03 per cent, while the S&P 500 gained 1.58 per cent and the Nasdaq Composite increased 1.44 per cent.
