Indonesia’s rupiah gained at the start of trading on 5 November 2026, opening at Rp18,120 per US dollar, according to Refinitiv data. The currency rose 0.19% from its 4 November close of Rp18,155, reversing direction after the previous session’s decline.

The US dollar index, which tracks the dollar against six major currencies, was down 0.27% at 101.296 at 09:00 Western Indonesia Time.

Investors were also awaiting third-quarter economic growth figures from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), scheduled for 11:00 Western Indonesia Time on 5 November. A CNBC Indonesia consensus survey of 15 institutions forecast growth of 5.20% year on year and 1.33% quarter on quarter.

If that annual forecast is met, growth would slow for a second consecutive quarter, following 5.61% in the first quarter and 5.29% in the second. It would nevertheless exceed the 5.04% annual expansion recorded in the third quarter of 2025.
