Indonesia manufacturing PMI rises to 31-month high in October
New orders grew at their fastest pace in five years, while export order growth reached its strongest level since the survey began in April 2011.

Indonesia's manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index rose to 54.0 in October 2026 from 52.4 in September, according to S&P Global data. The reading was the highest in 31 months and indicated the strongest expansion since March 2024.
The improvement was supported by faster growth in new orders, with stronger market confidence and new product launches helping demand. Export orders increased at the fastest rate recorded since the PMI survey began in April 2011. Readings above 50 indicate an expansion in manufacturing activity compared with the previous month.
Industry Minister Muhammad Sarmuji said on 2 November that the figures pointed to continued improvement in industrial activity. He called for that momentum to be maintained so it could contribute more to economic growth, job creation and industrial competitiveness.
Sarmuji said Indonesia needed to strengthen production capacity and export competitiveness rather than rely solely on domestic demand. Government priorities included developing the manufacturing ecosystem, increasing the use of locally made goods, protecting the domestic market from unfair import competition and ensuring energy and raw material supplies.
The Industry Ministry's Industrial Confidence Index also increased in October 2026, reaching 53.77. That was up 1.84 points from September's 51.93 and 0.27 points above the 53.50 recorded in the same period a year earlier.
