Indonesia launches fuel oversight programme targeting 3,679 stations
The initiative will recruit university graduates to monitor distribution, with applications open from 23 October to 1 November 2026.

Indonesia’s government has launched Pengawal Energi 2026, a programme intended to strengthen fuel distribution oversight at 3,679 filling stations nationwide. Deputy Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Yuliot inaugurated the initiative in Jakarta on 23 October 2026.
Officers will monitor distribution directly and improve the availability of oversight data. The programme aims to prevent leakage and misuse of subsidised fuel and fuel supplied under government assignments. Yuliot said he hoped it would help supplies reach communities equitably and in line with their intended allocation.
The initiative is a collaboration between downstream oil and gas regulator BPH Migas and Politeknik Energi dan Mineral (PEM) Akamigas. It is open to young university graduates, with registration running from 23 October to 1 November 2026.
Deployment will prioritise officers’ home provinces or nearby areas. The approach is intended to draw on local geographical knowledge, improve assignment logistics and support acceptance by communities. However, every officer must sign an integrity and placement commitment declaring a willingness to serve anywhere in Indonesia.
Yuliot said the assignments would also give young people practical field experience and build technical skills in the energy sector. The launch took place at the Westin Jakarta during celebrations marking the 81st anniversary of mining and energy, where the ministry also presented the 2026 Energi Subroto awards.
