DBS commits S$1 million to haze support in Singapore
The initiative is expected to reach 275,000 seniors and migrant workers, with an allocation of two N95 masks each.

DBS has earmarked S$1 million for haze assistance aimed at Singapore’s seniors and migrant workers. The bank expects 275,000 people to benefit, allocating two N95 masks to each recipient.
For migrant workers, DBS plans to channel 500,000 masks through seven recreation centres and selected dormitories. The Ministry of Manpower and dormitory operators are helping coordinate deliveries to dormitories, while distribution at recreation centres was scheduled for 25 October.
Agencies backed by the DBS Foundation are to receive 100 air purifiers alongside 50,000 masks. Recipients include Allkin Singapore, Lions Befrienders and Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities. A separate effort with these agencies will provide air purifiers for 500 seniors who are homebound and live alone.
Employee measures are also in place, covering N95 masks, the use of carbon filters on DBS premises and flexible work options for eligible staff. The bank said extra precautions would limit outdoor workers’ exposure to haze.
Lim Him Chuan, DBS Singapore Country Head, said people working outdoors may have few ways to avoid exposure, while cleaner-air spaces may be difficult for some seniors to access. DBS said this was the initiative’s first phase and that it would announce further assistance as conditions develop.
