Danantara sets investment priorities in minerals, downstreaming and AI
Data centre projects could be finalised at a Bali forum in December that aims to attract up to US$30 billion in investment commitments.

Danantara Indonesia will focus its investments by 2027 on critical minerals, industrial downstreaming and digital infrastructure covering data centres and artificial intelligence, according to Pahala Mansury, its Managing Director of Global Relations & Communications.
Speaking in Jakarta, Mansury said Danantara was selecting potential projects alongside PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM), state-owned enterprises and private businesses. He identified minerals and downstreaming as the largest opportunities, particularly for state-owned enterprises.
Mansury said data centre projects might be finalised at the New Asia Forum in Bali on December 3-4, 2026. The forum aims to draw investment commitments of up to US$30 billion. He also highlighted the investment potential of artificial intelligence.
Other areas remain under consideration, including food security, energy with low or no carbon emissions, education and workforce development. Mansury said discussions had taken place with international universities, with hopes that the forum could help explore establishing world-class educational institutions in Indonesia. Such efforts would require expertise, talent and supporting capabilities as well as funding, he said.
Separately, Chief Investment Officer Pandu Patria Sjahrir said Danantara had started buying shares in Indonesian state-owned companies. He attributed the purchases to valuations it considered attractive and favourable growth prospects. Decisions reflected assessments of company fundamentals and potential returns against risk, he said, adding that purchases would continue while valuations and prospects remained appealing.
