US investors plan US$500 million technology investment in Batam
The project is expected to employ about 1,000 people, with an initial development covering 3 hectares in Kabil.

US investors are preparing to invest US$500 million in technology industries in Batam, Indonesia, through a partnership involving Wiraraja Geseip, Tynergy Technology Group and Essence Global. The planned activities range from downstream silica sand processing to AI-based smart factories.
A groundbreaking ceremony at the Wiraraja I Industrial Estate in Kabil marked the start of implementation, with support from BP Batam. The initial development will occupy 3 hectares and is expected to employ about 1,000 people as the planned industrial facilities are developed.
Akhmad Ma'ruf Maulana, chairman of the Indonesian Industrial Estates Association and president director of Wiraraja Geseip, said the Batam development was the first stage of an earlier investment commitment. In a statement on 27 October 2026, he said the partners had signed a joint venture agreement in Washington, D.C., on 18 February 2026, witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto.
The partnership also includes opportunities for semiconductor development and sodium-ion battery assembly. Ma'ruf said the aim was to establish an integrated high-technology supply chain. Further expansion is planned at the Wiraraja Geseip Industrial Estate on Galang Island, a national strategic project.
