Higher sales volumes helped lift Unisem (M) Bhd’s third-quarter net profit by 58.5 per cent to RM30.72 million, according to its filing with Bursa Malaysia. The result for the quarter ending September 30, 2026, compared with RM19.38 million a year earlier.

Unisem attributed the earnings growth chiefly to increased revenue from its key operating units. Quarterly revenue totalled RM607.66 million, up 23.3 per cent against RM492.74 million. At the gross profit level, earnings reached RM62.18 million, a 38.4 per cent increase from RM44.93 million.

Shareholders will receive 1.0 sen per share on December 8 after the board authorised a first interim single-tier dividend. It covers the financial year ending December 31, 2026.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, net profit more than tripled from RM9.9 million. Pre-tax profit more than doubled, reaching RM39.2 million against RM16.4 million. The company cited stronger gross margins, better loading and efficiency gains.

The nine-month results were weaker: net profit dropped 21 per cent, from RM34.52 million to RM27.28 million. Unisem attributed that decline mainly to currency movements and increased operating costs. A RM13.4 million net loss in the quarter ending March 31, 2026, also left cumulative earnings below the third-quarter result.

Foreign exchange losses totalled RM10.75 million over nine months, reversing a RM7.59 million gain a year earlier. Revenue nevertheless advanced 18 per cent, reaching RM1.64 billion against RM1.39 billion.

For the rest of the financial year, Unisem expects recovering customer demand and better use of installed capacity to support its performance.
