Sunway Construction Group (SunCon) has won two Malaysian data centre contracts worth RM2.66 billion through its wholly owned subsidiary, according to stock exchange filings. The builder is part of Jeffrey Cheah's Sunway conglomerate.

A multinational technology company headquartered in the US awarded the subsidiary RM920.8 million in additional work at an existing Johor data centre development. The contract covers mechanical, electrical and plumbing fit-out. Work began upon the award and is expected to finish in the first quarter of 2028.

The other agreement, worth RM1.74 billion, is with an international hyperscaler for a data centre in Serendah, Selangor, The Star reported, citing a separate filing. Its scope includes the building's core and shell, campus infrastructure and mechanical, electrical and plumbing fit-out.

Construction in Selangor is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2026, with completion planned four years later.

SunCon has now secured seven data centre-related contracts this year, The Edge Malaysia reported. Its new orders for the year reached RM9.8 billion, while its outstanding order book stood at RM13.4 billion.

For the second quarter ended June 30, SunCon reported net profit of RM103.59 million, up 23.5% from a year earlier, as margins improved across its operating segments. Revenue declined 31.1% to RM1.02 billion, mainly because construction revenue was lower.
