Thailand prepares to assess local wage proposals for 2027
The Wage Board will keep its current calculation criteria and provincial groupings. Revised rates and their start dates have not been announced.

Minimum wage recommendations covering every Thai province, including Bangkok, are ready for national consideration for 2027, a senior labour official said. The Wage Board will examine the submissions before deciding whether different areas need rate adjustments.
Somchai Morakotsriwan, the Labour Ministry’s deputy permanent secretary, said on November 5 that provincial subcommittees had completed their work and forwarded their proposals. The technical subcommittee responsible for screening and reviewing them met on October 29, its first meeting of the 2027 fiscal year.
Government, employers and employees are represented on the national board. Somchai said its existing calculation method would stay in place, assessing local economic circumstances alongside living expenses, production costs and what employers can afford to pay.
The board will also retain provincial groupings for its assessments. Decisions for particular areas will follow scrutiny of their recommendations, with workers’ living standards among the considerations.
Somchai said scheduling still required consultation with the board’s secretariat, though the ministry wanted the process to proceed quickly. Neither revised wage levels nor dates for them to take effect have been announced.
