Indonesia has begun reviewing regulations considered obstacles to exports and is preparing measures to ease imports intended for export production, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said on 5 November 2026.

Speaking at a press conference in Central Jakarta, Airlangga said the work followed President Prabowo Subianto’s direction to make exporting easier. He did not identify the regulations under review or provide details of the measures being prepared.

The initiative forms part of government efforts to meet the 2026 state budget’s economic growth target of 5.4 per cent. Authorities are also counting on household spending and investment, and have prepared Rp31 trillion in incentives to help sustain purchasing power towards the end of the year.

Separately, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported that the economy expanded by 5.47 per cent year on year in the third quarter of 2026, compared with 5.04 per cent in the corresponding period a year earlier. BPS deputy Moh. Edy Mahmud identified household consumption as the main driver.

Household consumption rose by 5.04 per cent, against 4.89 per cent a year earlier, and contributed 2.62 percentage points to growth. BPS linked the performance to increased online transactions for goods and services, public mobility, tourism activity and government inflation-control policies.

Gross fixed capital formation, or investment, increased by 6.06 per cent year on year. Government consumption grew by 8.95 per cent, compared with 5.66 per cent a year earlier, alongside higher personnel spending and purchases of goods and services, including supplies distributed through the free nutritious meals programme.
