Peter Seah will leave the chairmanship of DBS Group at the end of 2026, concluding a 16-year tenure, the bank announced. The 80-year-old will continue advising the lender for one year, with Anthony Lim named as his successor.

Lim, 68, joined the DBS board in April 2020 and is due to assume the chairmanship on Jan. 1, 2027. His previous senior roles at GIC and Bankers Trust included postings in Singapore, London and New York. He retired from executive positions in 2017.

Seah became chairman in May 2010. Since 2010, DBS’ market capitalisation has risen more than sixfold, climbing from about S$35 billion to above S$200 billion. Annual net profit increased from S$2.65 billion to S$11 billion in fiscal 2025.

Major shareholder Temasek credited Seah with backing early spending on digital transformation by management under former chief executive Piyush Gupta. DBS received Euromoney’s World’s Best Digital Bank title in 2016, becoming the first bank to win the award.

Seah said the completed chief executive handover to Tan Su Shan left him confident about passing responsibility to Lim. DBS also credited Seah with guiding its digital development and its expansion into higher-return businesses.
