The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) is preparing an alert system to flag suspected share-trading manipulation and other misconduct in real time, president director Jeffrey Hendrik said. The exchange plans to inform investors promptly when it starts an investigation.

Speaking at the exchange building in South Jakarta in remarks cited on 6 November 2026, Jeffrey said the new monitoring procedures would allow information to reach the public directly. He said the notifications would also show that enforcement in the capital market was continuing.

The surveillance changes are part of broader capital-market reforms that also cover greater transparency on shareholders with holdings above 1% and affiliated parties, as well as efforts to strengthen market liquidity. Jeffrey said the measures were expected to build confidence among domestic investors and global index providers.

Separately, BEI is assessing market conditions as it considers resuming short-selling transactions. Jeffrey said eligible shares could be reintroduced once conditions were more conducive and there was no excessive panic. The exchange will also review which shares may qualify and announce the list later.
