Endeavor has selected Jeffrey Tiong, the Sabah-born founder and chief executive of Patsnap, for its international entrepreneur network. He was admitted through the organisation’s 70th International Selection Panel and joins its Malaysian community.

Based in Singapore, Patsnap uses artificial intelligence to help organisations conduct intellectual property due diligence and make research and development decisions. Originally a tool for searching patents, it became a unicorn in 2021. It serves over 10,000 customers across more than 50 countries, with Tesla, Micron and Bose among its clients.

Endeavor’s panel considers leadership and ambition, as well as how founders could contribute to the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem. Those selected receive local team support and access to experienced founders and mentors. Co-investment from Endeavor Catalyst may also be available where appropriate. Members undertake to mentor and back future entrepreneurs.

Tiong said he viewed membership as a chance to connect with founders confronting their own challenges. He also hoped to contribute to Malaysia’s entrepreneurial community by sharing lessons from building Patsnap.

His business idea took shape during an overseas entrepreneurship programme while he was a National University of Singapore student. Working at a Philadelphia medical device start-up and studying part-time at the Wharton School, he encountered the difficulties of researching complex patent information scattered across jurisdictions.
