MetaOptics shareholders approve mandate for share buybacks
The Singapore-listed optics manufacturer is not required to purchase shares and says any buybacks will depend on its finances, market conditions and growth plans.

MetaOptics Ltd said shareholders authorised a share buyback mandate at an extraordinary general meeting on 28 October 2026, giving its board discretion to repurchase the Singapore-listed semiconductor optics manufacturer's shares.
The board views the mandate as a way to manage capital, adjust the company's capital structure and improve returns on equity where appropriate. MetaOptics stressed that the approval creates no obligation to buy shares. Decisions will depend on factors including market conditions, its financial position, working capital needs and growth plans.
Alongside the approval, MetaOptics said it remained on schedule to deliver existing orders for Direct Laser Writer platforms by end-2026. It expects those deliveries to contribute positively to revenue for the financial year ending 31 December 2026.
The company also reported a design/evaluation order from a major U.S. foundry customer for co-packaged optics modules using its metalens technology. The modules are expected to support ULED and laser-based configurations.
MetaOptics said it had completed validation of the design and fabrication processes for a 12-megapixel colour imaging titanium dioxide metalens. Production and fabrication on its 12-inch wafer are underway, with testing expected to begin in January 2027.
