Malaysia reports RM59.5 billion in potential investment from overseas missions
Approvals account for RM14.2 billion of the potential investment, with RM45.3 billion still under negotiation, the ministry said.

Malaysia’s Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) has attributed RM59.5 billion in potential investment to 14 overseas official visits and missions focused on trade and investment. It said RM14.2 billion had received approval, while negotiations were continuing on RM45.3 billion.
The missions were led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani. The ministry said the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) carried out the missions.
In a written parliamentary response, Miti said projects usually take 18 to 24 months to materialise, with the timeframe affected by their size, complexity and economic conditions. Mida would keep monitoring the opportunities and providing follow-up support and facilitation to help projects reach implementation.
The ministry also reported RM6.77 billion in exports resulting from high-level engagements during official overseas visits. It said Matrade was continuing to broaden export promotion into new markets across Central Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Exports to those three regions reached RM69.84 billion during January–September, an increase of 23.06 per cent, according to Miti. Reported export growth included 426.1 per cent for Namibia, 55.6 per cent for Angola, 41.0 per cent for Brazil, 35.9 per cent for Tanzania, 28.5 per cent for Ethiopia and 11.6 per cent for Kenya.
