Maharlika Investment Corp. (MIC) is weighing additional investments that could increase its capital deployment by as much as ₱4 billion before 2026 ends, according to president and chief executive officer Rafael Consing Jr.

At a briefing in Taguig City on November 5, Consing said he expected announcements on two or three transactions before year-end. The proposals span utilities and infrastructure, industrials, and agriculture, and need board approval. He withheld details pending the signing of agreements.

Consing put the possible additional deployment at ₱2.5 billion to ₱4 billion if all three transactions proceed. However, he said MIC, which manages the Philippines’ sovereign wealth fund, was unlikely to achieve its ₱35 billion deployment goal for the year.

For the first nine months of 2026, MIC deployed ₱18.77 billion. This included ₱15 billion lent to Petron Corp. for working capital and ₱3.68 billion in additional cash payments to acquire Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI) shares.

Separately, MIC said third-quarter net income reached ₱941 million, a 49 per cent increase from ₱629 million a year earlier. It attributed the improvement to earnings contributions from ATI and interest earned on the Petron loan.

Over the first nine months, net income increased 24 per cent to ₱2.18 billion, MIC reported. Comprehensive income rose 32 per cent to ₱2.85 billion, while revenue increased 17 per cent to ₱2.41 billion.
