External customers are the intended market for the Indonesian data centre business being developed by South Korea's LG CNS and Sinar Mas, LG CNS Indonesia president Mansik Won told Gizmologi in Jakarta. The facilities would not be reserved for the partners' internal use.

The companies plan to establish a joint venture to run the business. Won said the partnership was intended to broaden LG CNS's digital infrastructure services, pairing its technology and operational experience with Sinar Mas's knowledge of Indonesia and access to customers.

Sinar Mas's experience in data centres was among the reasons for collaborating, according to Won. He said LG CNS had already developed and managed facilities serving public institutions and private-sector clients in South Korea.

On electricity and water demand, Won acknowledged that resource use could prompt questions from neighbouring communities. He said developers and residents needed open discussions, with government facilitating communication to help reconcile infrastructure requirements and local interests.

In its 2025–2026 sustainability report, LG CNS describes monitoring temperatures and controlling airflow at Korean facilities to manage energy consumption. It also reports monthly checks on water use and plans to replace ageing cooling equipment. These measures concern its Korean operations; cooling arrangements and energy and water management for the Indonesian project remain unconfirmed.
