More than 300 Shanghai enterprises will participate in a Kuala Lumpur trade exhibition on November 16 and 17, aimed at developing commercial ties with Malaysian businesses. The 26th Shanghai Fair Trade Show – Malaysia will combine exhibitions with investment discussions and business matching.

According to an event statement, participation will include 30 industry associations and institutions, with approximately 500 exhibitors overall. Five sectors will be represented: healthcare, manufacturing, consumer goods, trade services and innovation technology.

Over half the exhibitors hold China's Specialised, Refined, Distinctive and Innovative (SRDI) designation, which recognises specialised expertise, niche-market capabilities and innovation-driven operations.

A new International Pavilion, occupying nearly 150 square metres, will feature Malaysian official institutions and local enterprises alongside Shanghai participants. It is intended to help Malaysian organisations present their capabilities and develop cross-border business connections.

Fu Wengang, vice-president of the Shanghai Services Federation, said the ambition was to establish a lasting platform linking Shanghai and Malaysia through trade, culture and public welfare.

Malaysia-China trade totalled US$35.49 billion in the first quarter of 2026. Cumulative implemented Chinese investment between 1980 and 2025 reached US$24.5 billion.
