Indonesia’s IHSG gains 4.9% after MSCI-related market pressure
The financial regulator said the index closed at 5,492 after touching a low of 4,907.37 on 19 October.

Indonesia’s benchmark IHSG rose 4.9 per cent during trading on 19–23 October 2026, according to the Financial Services Authority (OJK), following significant market pressure on 16 October that the regulator attributed to an unexpected MSCI statement.
Hasan Fawzi, OJK’s chief executive for capital market, financial derivatives and carbon exchange supervision, said the index recovered after falling to a low of 4,907.37 on 19 October. It ended the trading week at 5,492.
Speaking at the Indonesia Stock Exchange in Jakarta on 26 October, Hasan said the IHSG outperformed other global stock indices over the week.
OJK and capital market stakeholders responded with measures including the lower auto-rejection policy, known as ARB, and a share buyback policy that remains in force, he said.
The regulator also met market participants, media representatives and domestic and international investors to discuss market conditions and strengthen communication. Hasan said OJK was continuing to monitor market movements and sought to ensure that the public and investors received factual information about market conditions.
