Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Bhd (Exim Bank) says it will channel more than RM1 billion through initiatives mandated under the 2027 Budget. The funding and credit protection measures are intended to help Malaysian businesses reach overseas customers, manage trade risks and shift towards sustainable operations.

Among the measures is the Export Leap Scheme, with RM500 million to help entrepreneurs and exporters prepare for entry into international markets or grow their overseas presence. Frontier and non-traditional destinations are included. The bank said the scheme would also help firms respond to cost pressures, tougher competition and economic and geopolitical uncertainty.

Another RM300 million will go towards the Local Acceleration and Growth Programme. Manufacturers, service providers and local vendors will be offered affordable financing to raise productivity and expand capacity. It will also help businesses join multinational and major domestic companies' supply and value chains, including sectors identified under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030.

For prospective exporters and those already trading abroad, a RM5 million grant under Malaysia Global Connect (MGC) GoExport Cover will provide commercial trade-risk protection when they pursue new or non-traditional markets.

Dana Kelestarian Alam 2.0 will receive RM400 million for low-carbon projects and efforts to embed sustainability in business investment and operations, the bank said.

Exim Bank is a subsidiary of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd Group (BPMB Group). It said these measures would complement the group's government mandate covering strategic programmes worth more than RM7 billion, with implementation prioritising measurable development outcomes and additionality under Bank Negara Malaysia's Performance Measurement Framework.
